SING, SING, SING - Prime Louis Prima
In all of jazz’s turbulent history there have been few instrumentalist / performers who personified showmanship more than Louis Prima. In a positive way he brought many essential elements of New Orleans music to a wider public long before the roots of the so-called ‘Revival’ ever took shape. This CD traces the evolution of his charismatic talent, covering the years 1933 –1955, and includes rare tracks that have not been heard for many years.
Louis' award winning composition Sing Sing Sing – the title track of this compilation - was placed into the Grammy Hall of Fame, while another track Buona Sera was featured during the closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics! In 2010 he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
To younger audiences, Louis Prima will forever be the voice of King Louis in the 1966 Disney classic animation The Jungle Book – and he received a gold disc for the million selling soundtrack recording.
